How to shortlist a best forex broker without a ranking ad

August 20, 2026 · Peak Pips desk

“Best forex broker” is a search, not a trophy. Shortlist by licence, cost, ticket, and money-out — then demo two names.

  • Education, not a signal
  • Check the register yourself
  • Leverage can wipe a deposit

Google is full of “best forex broker 2026” pages that end in a register button. Treat that phrase as a research job, not a winner. Peak Pips keeps a regulated shortlist so you can compare starting points. It is not a promise that any name will make you money.

What “best forex broker” can actually mean

Best for whom? A scalper on gold cares about the all-in cost of a round turn. A newer trader cares whether the demo ticket is readable and the withdrawal method matches a bank they already use. A licence that covers you beats a pretty score on a review site.

If a page cannot say which legal entity you would sign with, it is not a shortlist. It is an ad.

Four filters before you open a live form

  1. Entity on a public register. Copy the company name from the account documents, not the logo. Search it on the regulator that is supposed to cover you. Our note on how to verify a broker is the checklist.
  2. All-in cost, not the banner. Add spread, commission, and typical overnight cost. See spread vs commission and what a raw spread account actually means.
  3. A ticket you will click. MT4, MT5, cTrader, or web — demo the one the entity actually offers. MT4 vs MT5 is a platform step, not a bonus step.
  4. Money out. Read the withdrawal policy before you send a test deposit. Demos never test this.

Use Peak Pips as a worksheet, not a verdict

Open the review notes and the compare page. Pick two names that survive the register search. Open two demos. If the live application names a different company than the review, believe the application.

What we will not do

We will not crown a single “best forex broker in the world”. We will not invent licence numbers. We will not sell signals. Leveraged CFDs can wipe a deposit at a fully licensed firm. Read the risk disclaimer.

Common question

Is the cheapest spread the best forex broker? No. A tight quote with a slow withdrawal, or an entity you cannot find on a register, is not a bargain. Cost is one column. Entity is the first column.

This is editorial. It is not advice, a broker pitch, or a call to deposit. Confirm licences and costs on the firm’s own site.
