Comparing two logos is easy. Comparing two accounts is work. If you mix a raw ticket on one name with a standard ticket on another, you are not comparing brokers — you are comparing marketing.
Lock four variables
- Legal entity (the company on the form)
- Account type (standard vs raw / commission)
- Instrument (EURUSD is not XAUUSD)
- Session (London open is not Sunday night)
Write spread plus commission for a round turn. Then look at overnight cost if you hold. The worksheet lives in spread vs commission.
Use our compare page, then distrust it
The compare brokers tool is a shortlist helper. Live quotes move. If the firm’s own table disagrees with a review card, trust the firm’s table. Rankings on Peak Pips are research scores, not live prices.
Non-price columns that still decide the account
Platform fit (MT4 vs MT5), withdrawal rules, and whether negative balance protection is even offered on your entity. An offshore arm and an FCA-style arm of the “same brand” are not the same product. Confirm on the register — verification steps.
A 20-minute compare ritual
- Pick two names from the shortlist.
- Open each legal footer. Copy both company names.
- Search both on the public register that covers you.
- Open both demos. Place a stop. Find swap. Find history.
- Read both withdrawal pages. Note fees and name-match rules.
If you skip step 3, the rest is theatre. Peak Pips will not pick a winner for you. We also will not manage the account. Read the risk disclaimer before you size up.
Common question
Should I compare more than two brokers? You can. Diminishing returns kick in fast. Two verified entities beat ten tabs of banners. If both fail the register test, do not “average” them — drop both.
