Live prices for observation only. This is not a signal service. Widgets can lag — never trade off a delayed quote.

Use the gold and EURUSD boards to watch session flow, then size a position with the calculators. Confirm every number on your broker ticket.

  • Watch, do not copy
  • Session hours
  • Pip / lot math

Watch gold and majors, size a trade in round numbers, then go back to the broker shortlist. Peak Pips does not execute orders. Widgets can lag — never fire a live ticket off a delayed quote.

Watch only

Charts here are for context. Your platform quote is the one that fills.

Not a signal

No entries, no “buy gold now.” If a page elsewhere promises that, it is marketing.

Read the spec

Gold contract size, pip definition, and swaps differ by broker. Confirm before you size.

Lag happens

Embedded widgets can sit a few seconds behind. Do not chase a print you saw here.

Gold

XAU/USD — dollars per ounce

Spreads widen around data and the New York open. A 15-minute chart is for structure, not for copying a stranger’s ticket.

Quote vs fill

The number on this widget is not your broker’s bid/ask. Gold tickets often carry a wider spread than majors.

Contract size

Many platforms use 100 oz per 1.00 lot. Mini and micro lots exist — check the symbol spec, not a forum post.

When it moves

London/New York overlap is usually the busiest window. Thin Asian hours can still spike on a headline.

Majors

EUR/USD — the liquid benchmark

Advertised costs are tightest here on most raw-style accounts. Your all-in cost is still spread plus commission plus the fill you actually get.

EUR, GBP, JPY

EURUSD and GBPUSD usually quote to 0.0001. USDJPY is a different pip size — do not mix the two in a calculator blindly.

Same pair, different desk

Raw vs standard accounts change the ticket. Compare all-in cost on the name you will actually open.

Session still matters

A quiet Sunday print is not the same market as London lunch. Size as if spreads can double.

Sessions

Typical hours (UTC)

Banks do not open like a shop sign. Treat this as a map of when liquidity is usually better — not a guarantee.

SessionTypical window (UTC)What people use it for
Sydney21:00–06:00Quiet open, AUD/NZD, thinner gold
Tokyo00:00–09:00JPY pairs, Asia data, can fake a range
London07:00–16:00Majors and gold pick up
New York12:00–21:00US data, overlap with London is the busy stretch

DST shifts the clock twice a year. Confirm on your platform’s session indicator if you trade the open.

Sizing

Rough pip value and position size

USD-account estimates using a typical spec. Gold pip definitions and JPY pip value move with the quote. Confirm on your platform before you click.

These boxes are a worksheet. They are not a live quote, not your margin, and not a reason to increase size.

Pip value

Typical USD per pip at the lot size you type. Gold uses a $0.01 tick on a 100 oz standard lot ($100 / pip / 1.00 lot).

Position size

Lots ≈ dollar risk ÷ (stop pips × pip value per 1.00 lot). Round to your broker’s step (often 0.01).

The spec sheet

Read these before you size a live ticket

Lot size

1.00 lot on FX is usually 100,000 of base. Gold is ounces, not euros. Mixing them blows a stop.

Leverage

Leverage is how much the firm lets you control. It is not a target. A small stop with huge size still wipes the account.

Spread + commission

Raw accounts look tight, then add commission. Standard accounts hide it in the spread. Compare all-in.

Swaps

Overnight financing can dwarf the spread if you hold. Triple-swap weekdays exist. Check the symbol.
